On day of departure: laundry

As a guest in our holiday home, you do not have to wash the used linen / kitchen textiles / towels yourself. This is taken care of by us.

However, upon departure we do request our guests to:

  • Hang towels and kitchen textiles on the drying rack in the technical room so that no mold occurs.
  • Remove the bed linen from all used beds and also place it in the technical room (loosely on the floor next to the drying rack).

Washing machine

The washing machine is freely available for your own use. Please note: the washing machine may only be “on” if you are in/around the house. See also the house rules.

Waste bins

On the side of the house at the parking lot there are three (3) waste containers:

  • Paper (roll container with blue lid)
  • Residual waste (roll container with gray lid)
  • Plastic (round container with lid)

From idea to realization

Our story

In about 2015, we came up with the idea of creating a holiday home where we can relax as a family and enjoy our free time. Our first idea of a simple Scandinavian log cabin – possibly on a holiday park – was quickly put aside. Bigger plans also mean saving for longer – but we didn’t mind.

We first looked for a location in Luxembourg, because we have beautiful memories of the landscape and quiet authentic atmosphere here. We soon had to conclude that the prices of a plot of land in Luxembourg did not fit within our budget – so we looked further. Literally just across the border – where the geographical landscape and atmosphere actually have many similarities with Luxembourg. That’s how we ended up in the South Eifel.

This was followed by a few years of searching and pleasant consultation with our house bank, the Sparkasse in Bitburg. We concluded that we could realize our ideas. In 2019, we bought a plot of land and it was time for the next phase of our adventure.

After an initial failed attempt to implement the construction plans, we came into contact with the Müller Bau company in Schweich (near Trier) in 2021. Together with their partner, the Kläs company in Irrel (near Prümzurlay) and many other partners, they have created a beautiful house for us with solid craftsmanship.

In the period 2023 – 2024, we spent a lot of time on the finishing touches, including installing the kitchen and of course furnishing all the rooms. In between all the work, we also took the time to enjoy the surroundings and explore hiking and cycling trails. We have recorded our experiences in the guestbook – in which we give our recommendations for activities, sights and hiking and cycling routes. During our stay, we also combine free time with our business work – for which we have set up two offices as a “second home workplace”.

At the beginning of 2025, the company Metalbau Roth will have installed the balcony and FeWo Prümzurlay will be ready to rent to friends and family.

The garden is not yet completely finished – we are still taking our time and we therefore assume that our guests will understand this when they stay in FeWo Prümzurlay.
